Adam and The Podshow

Fifteen years ago, instead of the hundreds of thousands of podcasters and the tens of millions of episodes that exist today, there was just one podcast. Originally called audioblogging, podcasting traces its history to Adam Curry and Dave Winer.

Dave and the Podcasting Model

Dave was a software developer, creating products that were used for Apple and IBM processors. He also founded a software company, enjoyed a reputation as being one of the most influential writers on the web and visited universities as a resident fellow and scholar. Dave is credited for inventing the podcasting model.

Podcasting Today

While it is still a subject of debate on who was truly the first podcaster between Adam and Dave, what followed became the known history of podcasting from the publication of the first DIY book on podcasting, Apple and Yahoo support of podcasts to podcast being declared the word of the year. Former President George Bush and Apple CEO Steve Jobs used podcasting to deliver their addresses. Fast forward to today, over 750,000 podcasts and 30 million episodes are now being streamed, downloaded and learned from by listeners around the world.
